This two-day course is aimed at companies involved in implementing an ISO 14000 Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Through a review of the background and development of the standard along with in-depth analysis of its components, students will learn how to interpret ISO 14000, develop an ISO 14000 implementation plan and prepare ISO 14000 documentation which is compliant with the standard. Case studies are used to provide working examples throughout the course. Included is a compare/contrast review of ISO 14001 to: ISO 9001; EMAS (European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme); and NSF 110, an American environmental standard.

Through analysis of the ISO 14000 standard as well as management auditing principles, the course will teach participants to function as effective Internal EMS Auditors and to interpret the ISO 14000 standard from an auditor's perspective.
